States Dr. Thorpe, "Of course this worries me, especially when you consider the backlash that Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Ed Rendell, and others have experienced during the Obama-Mania of this election cycle. Right here in my own backyard, an elected state official with past ties to support of the Confederate Flag is giving a county-wide GOP speech during Black History month." Dr Marion D. Thorpe, Jr. wonders if and how he can best educate GOP members to "pre-think" their actions and statements through the "eyes and ears" of differing racial constituencies that are growing throughout Florida and this Nation.

When asked about the significance of possible GOP missteps as relates to his own Congressional District 23 campaign and the presumed race between Barack Obama and John McCain, Dr. Marion D. Thorpe, Jr. indicates optimism in the voting public. "In terms of Republican candidates who are consistently marginalized by the Party base, I can think of no other candidates who are held at arms length more than John McCain and Marion Thorpe. If core GOP members cause damage to this election cycle, the public will likely find solace in the maverick styles of McCain and Thorpe; thus, allowing continued widespread public support for our respective campaigns."

Dr. Marion D. Thorpe, Jr. makes it clear that he would much rather safeguard against GOP missteps that may lead to a racially charged general election in November. "Categorically, it is time for America the Beautiful, and all of her people, to shine brightly," concludes Dr. Thorpe.
