Bernadel, Joe

Joseph Bernadel was born in Haiti, where he completed his primary and secondary schooling at the Institution St. Louis de Gonzague. He emigrated to the United States in 1975 and soon joined the United States Army. He retired as a Major from the US Military in 1997 after 22 years of worldwide sensitive military assignments, which included positions as Attache Militaire in Haiti and Mozambique. He is fluent in five languages: Creole, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.  Major Bernadel is the co-founder of Toussaint L'Ouverture High School for Arts & Social Justice in Delray Beach, Florida, a charter high school that opened in August 2001, serving Palm Beach County students of diverse backgrounds. He is the first person of Haitian ancestry to have opened a public school in the United States.

Irving, Barrington

Born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in inner-city Miami, Barrington hopes his historic flight will inspire other young people to resist the negative influences of the streets and work toward their dreams. As a teenager, Barrington and his friends shared a sense of hopelessness about their futures, as there was little incentive or opportunity for minority youth in the inner city to pursue professional careers. He earned good grades in high school but saw a football scholarship as his only route to college. Then one afternoon, working in his parents' Christian bookstore, Barrington began talking with a customer, a Jamaican airline pilot, Captain Gary Robinson, who invited him to the airport the next day to see the cockpit of the Boeing 777 jet he flew for United Airlines. That day changed the young man’s life forever.

Knowles, Malachi

Malachi Knowles was born and raised in Palm Beach County Florida. He attended Washington Elementary School in Riviera Beach, FL and Roosevelt High School in West Palm Beach, FL.The President & Founder of ICYG Inc. started this program for troubled kids in 1999, and expanded the programs to all kids in the community. A member of the African-American Golfers Hall of Fame, Malachi Knowles started shagging golf balls at 8 years old at the prestigious Everglades Country Club in Palm Beach, FL where he started earning his quarter tips that he gave to his mother Mary Knowles to put in the bank. One of the members of the Everglades gave him his first set of clubs at age 12 and he taught himself the game of golf from watching the members and others.

Sayfie, Justin

Prior to co-founding Blosser & Sayfie in August 2001, Justin worked as a senior policy advisor, spokesman and chief speechwriter for Governor Jeb Bush.  In these different roles, Justin assisted Governor Bush with development of public policy initiatives and legislative strategy, management of Florida’s thirteen executive state agencies and press relations.  In June 2007, President George W. Bush appointed Justin to the President’s Commission on White House Fellows.  The Commission is responsible for selecting participants in the White House Fellows Program.  Justin served as a delegate for the American Council on Germany’s Young Leader Conference in Berlin and Munich.  In 2006, Governor Bush appointed Justin to the Miami Dade Expressway Authority Board where he served until 2007.
